Ronda Thompson Obituary

Ronda Jayne (Campbell) Thompson passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic, at the age of 49, surrounded by family, after her long battle with Cancer.

Ronda was born April 28, 1972 at the Basset Army Medical Center, in Fort Wainwright, Alaska to her father Cw2 retired Ronald Campbell Sr. and mother Mary Campbell. A military daughter, she and her family lived in Alaska, Washington and Kentucky before eventually moving back to her father's hometown of Penn Yan, NY in 1983. Ronda was a very athletic kid, standing out in track and soccer. She also played the flute in high school band. Her love for those sports would shape her love for anything, and everything outdoors throughout her life. She loved nature, the beach and the sun. Her happy place was outside, or as she would put it, "anywhere flip flops could be worn.”

She was the mother of two children, Michael Washburn was born in 1992; and Cameron Washburn in 2004. After becoming a mom, she discovered her “true calling,” as she often said. Ronda ran a daycare service out of her home for many years, helping and leaving an imprint on every kid and family that would cross paths with her. She occasionally pursued other careers, only to return to childcare later in her life. She continued with her passion until her illness made her unable to anymore.

After being diagnosed with Lung cancer in 2018, her life's biggest battle began. Although she would eventually fall to this horrible disease, it wasn't without the biggest fight it's ever seen. Throughout countless second opinions, treatments, trials, and clinics, she would continue to battle with everything she had to get every second she could with her family and friends.

Her family and friends can take solace in the things she taught us. She showed us all, the perfect example of courage and determination, and that her love for all those around her was just as strong as she was.

Ronda is survived by her parents, Ronald and Mary Campbell; her husband Tom Thompson; stepchildren Matt Thompson and Kristen Prodromo; sons Cameron and Michael Washburn; daughter-in-law Samantha Washburn; grandchildren Vayda, Maverick, Killian, Carson, and Penelope; sisters Sandra Orr and Davida Holmes; brothers Ronald (Cindy) Campbell Jr and Randy (Becky) Campbell; nieces and nephews, Jericca, Jerry, and Joseph Orr, Thomas Holmes, Holly and Stephanie Campbell, Kirsten Campbell and Amanda Hall; great nieces and nephews Zachary and Jaime Howell, Sabrina Orr, Mira Orr and Emily Gleason; and her "other children" Harper, Emma, and Jackson Hamm; as well as countless other family and friends.

Honoring Ronda's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

A true Warrior, one of a kind selfless heart, and beautiful soul, gone too soon. The best Sibling, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, and Mother that anyone could wish for. You will be deeply, deeply missed, but certainly never forgotten. May you rest in peace in your newfound pain-free paradise.
