Antoinette Mannara

Born on April 22, 1927, Antoinette passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the age of 98. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Peter, who passed in 2002, as well as 2 siblings, Lucille Suttera and Joseph Suttera, Jr. Antoinette will be greatly missed by her 2 sons, Joseph and Gary Mannara, as well as her 2 grandsons, Anthony Mannara and wife Jennifer, as well as Michael Mannara and wife Melissa. She was also fortunate to live long enough to enjoy her 3 wonderful great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jovi, and Brody Mannara. Part of two large Italian families, Antoinette has 3 living siblings, Eleanor Manno, Maryann Pino, and Ronald Suttera, as well as 2 remaining sister-in-laws, Louise (Mannara) Azzano (husband Robert) and Judy Suttera, widow to brother Joseph Jr. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews on both sides of the families.

Blessed with having lived a long and relatively healthy life, Antoinette took few meds, mostly over-the-counter headache and stomach acid relievers, which was amazing considering her age. Her cognitive abilities remained sharp, and she only entered a nursing home 16 months ago due to a sudden loss of mobility which rendered her bedridden and requiring extra care. Antoinette will long be remembered by her family as a quiet but decisive woman, strong in her ways and beliefs. Right to end, Antoinette thoroughly enjoyed a few simple pleasures of life which included drinking copious amounts of fresh, hot coffee daily, snacking on Italian cookies, sleeping little, and watching TV almost 24/7, totally devoted to Wheel of Fortune and all the Hallmark movies which portrayed life as we all wished it was, with a happy ending.

A celebratory Catholic funeral mass will be held for Antoinette at 11 am on Friday, May 9, 2025 at The Parish of the Holy Family (formerly St. Jude’s), 4100 Lyell Road in Gates, New York, followed by a short graveside ceremony at Holy Ghost Cemetery on Coldwater Road, also in Gates. All are welcome to attend.
