Bettye Jean Williams entered her heavenly home on December 5th, 2024 in Rochester, NY. She was born on February 7th, 1943 in Birmingham, AL. She had 3 sisters and one brother. In her younger years, she spent time between Birmingham, AL, Gary, IN, and Chicago IL. She met her first husband, Nathaniel in Birmingham, AL. Her first son, Swanger, and daughter, Eva, were born in Birmingham, AL. Bettye and Nathaniel moved to Buffalo, NY in pursuit of better job opportunities. Eventually, they moved to Rochester, NY when Nathaniel landed a job at Eastman Kodak Co. Once in Rochester, Bettye and Nathaniel expanded their family by welcoming another daughter, Pamela, and son, Nathaniel Jr. After many years Bettye and Nathaniel separated, and she met her second husband, Robert. Bettye and Robert had one daughter together, Monique.
Bettye worked as a health aid at various facilities and graduated in 1997 from SUNY Brockport, earning a Baccalaureate in Health Science. After retirement Bettye lived between New York and Maryland. Bettye enjoyed listening to music, watching classic westerns and television shows, and spending time with grandchildren. Bettye was preceded in death by her daughters Pamela and Eva and one son Nathaniel Jr. She is survived by her son Swanger; daughter Monique and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was loving, kind, caring, headstrong and will be missed more than words can describe.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 4-6 PM at James R. Gray Funeral Home, 1530 Buffalo Road, Rochester, NY 14624.
