Carl Joseph Mistlebauer III, 65, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, WI, passed away Tuesday evening September 26, 2023, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Carl was born February 11, 1958, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of the late Karl Joseph Mistlebauer, Jr, and Kay Joyce Hoskins Mistlebauer. Carl graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1976 and was recently inducted into the Sevastopol Hall of Fame as a member of the champion 1975-1976 basketball team.
After earning an undergraduate degree from Carroll University, Carl went on to attain a master's degree from Vanderbilt University. He then settled in Bowling Green, KY, where he primarily worked for Turner Industries. Carl moved to Rochester, NY, for cancer treatment.
Survivors include his mother, Kay; two sisters, Holly Mistlebauer and Julianna Mistlebauer Truesdale; brother, Jason (Allison) Mistlebauer; niece, Holly Koesling (Matt) Buth; two nephews, Alex Koesling and Liam Mistlebauer, and great-nephew, Ian Anderson. Preceding Carl in death were his father, Karl; sister, Samantha Mistlebauer Koesling, and brother-in-law James Koesling.
A private scattering of Carl's ashes is being planned in Rochester, NY.
