Clarence Harvey Shipp

Clarence Harvey Shipp of Dansville, NY (formerly Stanardsville, VA) passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022 at Highland Hospital of Rochester, NY.  He was 75.

Born on September 20, 1946, Harvey served in both the Navy and the Army being Honorably Discharged from both branches.  He was a Trooper for the Virginia State Police for 8 years after which he had a distinguished career as an investigator for Dominion (formerly Virginia Power) and Rappahannock Electric Cooperative for whom he spent the last 13 years of his career.  

Harvey gave his life to Christ in 1991 and spent the next 31 years showing the love of Jesus to anyone he would meet.  Never ashamed of Christ, Harvey would pray for anyone he came in contact with that needed prayer, gave sacrificially to his church and others, and in the last few weeks of life he was a witness for Christ, singing and praying for the staff at the hospital until he lost the ability to communicate.  

Harvey is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Maxine Combs Shipp; one son Scott Shipp and his wife Krystal; three grandchildren Elijah Shipp, Jayden Shipp, and Gabriel Shipp all of Dansville, NY; three brothers Thelbert Campbell and his wife Sherry of Goodyear, AZ, Edward Campbell and his wife Frances of Stanardsville, VA, and Duane Shipp of Lyndhurst, VA; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Clarence Shipp and his mother Gladys Mae Shipp.

The family would like to thank the staff of the A.C.E Unit at Highland Hospital for their loving care of Harvey during his lengthy stay there, especially Nurse Brooke and staff members Janelle and Solomon.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Zion Tabernacle Pentecostal Church I’m Silver Springs, NY on Friday, April 29, 2022 at 7 PM in the evening.  Rev. Jeremy Pinson will officiate. Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville, VA at a date to be determined later.
