Doug "Fuzzy", at the age of 69, on Thursday, November 30, 2023 passed peacefully in his family home in Irondequoit after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Susan Rock McCrossen and 6 stepchildren, Crystal (Mike) Simmons, Brandy Young, Brent (Pam) Roderick, David (Sandi) Roderick, Michael Caternolo, Matthew Caternolo and 12 grandchildren; brother Michael "Josh" (Deborah) McCrossen; nephews Matthew (Katherine) McCrossen, Evan McCrossen, Alexander (Emily) McCrossen; a great niece and 3 great nephews as well as his beloved dog Hondo. Doug was predeceased by his parents Fred C. and Katherine L. McCrossen as well as sister Mary Ellen McCrossen.
Doug is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, was a chef at many restaurants in the area, most notably Hogan's Hideaway. He participated in catering for many events in NYC during his time at the culinary institute. He received an MBA from RIT and taught business courses in the Greece Central School District. Doug had a passion for soccer and is one of the founding members of the Silver Chiefs soccer team, on which he played for several years. He also refereed youth soccer for many years. Doug loved to play guitar. He is best known to most for his witty sense of humor.
Private family dinner will be held at a later date, per Doug's request. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to UR Medicine Hospice or by mail at the following address:
