Edward C. Swartzenberg Sr. Obituary

Ed was born in Rochester, NY to William and Ruth Swartzenberg on November 23, 1939 and passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2025 at age 85.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Janet (Fred) Kane, William (Barbara) Swartzenberg and John (Laura) Swartzenberg; All of whom he mourned and missed every day.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Kathleen, and their children, Edward (Margaret) and Carrie Capostagno (Justin Parkhurst); grandchildren, Jacob Capostagno, Eleanor Swartzenberg, Benjamin Capostagno, Corporal Jonathan Swartzenberg (USMC), Grace Capostagno, Michael Swartzenberg, and Lance Corporal Harrison Swartzenberg (USMC); his only surviving sibling; his brother, Joseph (Mary Ellen) and sister-in-law, Laura; many in-laws, and several generations of nieces and nephews.

In 1959, at the age of 19, Ed joined his beloved Marine Corps, which provided the foundation on which he built his life. He had unwavering love of the United States, and a deep respect for all U.S. Armed Forces servicemembers.

Any attempt to describe his love of the outdoors would be woefully inadequate. He loved every second he shared with his friends, family, and grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and simply being outdoors.

Throughout his lifetime, he made countless friends; at work, in the neighborhood, at American Legion Post 1830, Marine Corp League, Teamsters Union, and simply put, anywhere he went.  He was willing to help anyone and never forgot anyone that helped him.

In lieu of flowers, take a kid fishing, teach them to shoot and enjoy the little things in life.

Semper Fidelis
