Felix “Buddy” Colaneri

Felix passed away on November 7, 2023. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years Cecilia (Slowe) Colaneri ; parents John and Carmella Colaneri and granddaughter Amy. He is survived by his children Michael (Patricia Lucia) Colaneri, Gregory (Gail) Colaneri, Nancy (Robert) Duff and Janice (Eric) Craine; grandchildren Joseph (Amy-deceased), Rachel (Adam) Christopher, David and Faith (Greg’s children); Kelly (Christopher), Jamie (David) and Alison (Nancy’s children); Sunny (Jeremy) and Brian (Mike’s children); Shalisa and Joshua (Janice’s children); great-grandchildren Heidi, Sam and Zoey Murphy; Joshua, Gabriel, Isaiah and Evelyn Quintana and many friends.

Buddy started his music career with Les Brown, and was a lifelong trumpet player with big bands. He played with a long and extensive list including Boyd Raeburn, The Bill Milo Band, Louie Prima, Gene Krupa, and Rochester bands like Duke Spinner, Gates Swingers and Bud Detar amongst many others. He worked at Hickey Freeman for his entire career. In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and created countless beautiful items for family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed watching westerns and taking car rides with his family. 

Friends and family are invited to his Funeral Mass on Saturday November 18, 2023 at 10AM at St Pius X Church, 3010 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery on Coldwater Road. Kindly consider a donation to the American Heart Association or a music charity of your choice in Buddy’s memory.
