On February 28th, the world lost a very special man-Gary Joseph Isaacs (age 84). Born on January 26th, 1941, Gary attended and graduated from Monroe High School. This is where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Norma Isaacs (Salina). They were married on September 15th, 1962 and remained in love for the following 63 years in the "enchanted cottage" they built together. Along the way, he discovered the second love of his life: firefighting. He dedicated 45 years of service to the Rochester Fire Department (Truck 6) and saved countless lives until his retirement in October of 2009. Gary was a smart, empathetic, joyful, bold, and goofy man who would do absolutely anything to put a smile on the face of those he loved.
He will be dearly missed and survived by his wife Norma Isaacs, his 3 children Robin (Keith) Lucas, Rick (Kelli) Isaacs, and Wendy (Michael and his children Noah & Erin) Patterson, his 5 grandchildren Hannah Lucas, Lena Lucas, Connor Isaacs, Madison Isaacs, and Gary Patterson, his sister Marlene Vaccarelli, his niece Sherry Vaccarelli, his nephews Mark (Kim) Salina and Charlie (Tisa) Salina, his sister-in-law Frances Salina, his neon yellow 2010 Corvette, and the innumerable others whose lives he touched. Gary passed peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones. Although their lives will never be the same, they are immeasurably grateful for the years they were able to spend with him.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks to send donations in his name to an organization where he volunteered many hours of his time, Holy Childhood; a nonprofit that services children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
