James Allen Glendenning

James Allen Glendenning Jr., born on July 29, 1927 in Wilkes-barre, PA peacefully passed away on March 3, 2025 in Rochester, NY.

Jim was lovingly adopted by James and Grace Glendenning and raised in Endicott, NY. Jim served our nation in the Navy from Feb. 1945 to Aug. 1946 earning his electrical training certificate in 1945. He then served aboard the USS Marlboro as Fireman Second Class USNR till his Honor able Discharge.

He graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1947.

Jim met his wife Elsie in 1949 while working as projectionist in Greene, NY., where she worked in the box office as a ticket taker. They married in 1954 and relocated to Rochester, NY. Jim earned his Electricians Certificate from RIT in 1975. He was employed as a maintenance electrician at the General Motors, Delco Products plant from Oct. 1953 until his retire ment in July 1983. Jim also served as driver and medic for his community with the Gates Volunteer Ambulance along side Elsie for many years. Jim and Elsie spent much of their retired years traveling the USA in their motorhome and enjoying it’s beauty.

Jim faithfully attended St. Stephens Episcopal Church till it closed a few years ago. He spent many hours helping to maintain the building with fellow parishioners.

Jim is survived by his wife Elsie Elliot Glendenning; son Robert Glendenning; daughters Karen Licata and Katherine Glendenning; grandchildren Joanna Licata, Sara (Jeff) Irrig, Steven Scheidt and Martin Scheidt.

Calling hours are scheduled for Saturday March, 8th 2025, from 11 AM to 1PM at James R. Gray Funeral home, 1530 Buffalo Road, Rochester, NY 14624.
