October 14, 2022 – passed away peacefully at the age of 86 surrounded by loved ones. She is predeceased by her husband, Wallace J. “Jim” Beebe and very close nephew Thomas “Kent” MacDonald. Joan is survived by her daughters Kathleen Beebe, Laurie (Bill) Kiley, step-granddaughter Sarah (Eric) Gadsby of Parkville, MD; and step-grandson Robert (Sarah) Kiley, step-great grandchildren Levi, Lucas, Rosemary, Hannah, and Bram. She also leaves behind many close relatives and very dear friends and will be deeply missed by all.
Joan was born in Rochester, NY and grew up on a farm on Clay Road in Henrietta. She attended Immaculate Conception School and Nazareth Academy High School. She worked for over 20 years at Hammer Lithograph, where she met Jim. She enjoyed taking trips with Jim and her daughters and particularly loved going to Disney World in Florida. Joan loved anything music related and would play the piano for anyone that came to visit at their home. She loved to decorate for the holidays, birthdays, and also enjoyed entertaining and setting her dining room table in a very special way for her family and lunch/dinner guests. Joan loved writing poetry, talking with anyone that she met and in particular speaking Spanish with anyone familiar with the language. She loved powdered raspberry jelly filled donuts (actually all sweets in general!), and her Irish heritage. She, along with a close cousin Mary DiDomenico, started the Flanigan Family Reunions back in the 1970’s which still continue to this day.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Clifton Springs Nursing Home (3300 unit) for the compassion and excellent care you had given to Joan and for the kindness and support shown to the family.
No prior calling hours. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
