Joann Beavers, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully on December 1, 2024, at St Ann’s Home in Rochester, NY. She was born on July 14, 1940, in Akron, Ohio to John Waicukewith and Edna Schneckenburger Lusk.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Leanne) Beavers, Anita (Bob) Meulendyk; grandchildren, Samantha (Dave) Beavers, Kelly (Cory) Barnett, Matthew Spontaneo, Heather (Anthony) DeMarco; great grandchildren Jackie, Lilly, Evy, Sutton Jade, Isaac, cherished friends and family members. She was known for her smile and fun-loving nature.
Joann lived in Akron, OH for most of her life and retired from Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board where she prided herself on helping her clients to achieve personal goals and learn valuable skills needed for the work environment.
In Ohio she was a former member of the Buckeye Corvette Club and The Chapel- Green Campus. In Rochester she was a member of First Bible Baptist Church. She also had great compassion for people and animals and donated to many charities.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 7th, visitation 10:00am-11:30am there will be a memorial service beginning at 11:30 am. at the James R. Gray Funeral Home, 1530 Buffalo Rd, Rochester, NY 14624. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, local pet shelter or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Ann’s Home, SCU, and Rochester Regional Health Hospice Care team for the care that she received.
