John Groves Obituary

On March 11, 2024. John is predeceased by his wife Linda C. Groves, whom he was married to for 55 years; parents Ronald & Honor Groves; sister Janet Groves. He is survived by his son Norman (Marcia) Groves; grandsons Nathan and Tyler Groves; sister Joanne Groves. 

John was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 - 1966. Following his service, he attended RIT, graduating with a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology and settled in Chili. John worked for the University of Rochester and Greece Central Schools for many years. In 1988, John became a founding member of ERIE, also known as Erie's Restoration Interests Everyone, a group which worked to restore and preserve the history of the Erie Canal. He was also a part of the Sky Rovers RC Flying Club in Clifton Springs and the Rochester Ultra Light Fun Flyers. John enjoyed spending time with his family at their summer home on Cayuga Lake where they all shared in many years worth of great memories.
