On December 10, 2020, at the age of 95. Survived by his wife of 70 years, Gertrude (nee: Knoebel) Klemmer; his 5 children, Norman (Patricia) Klemmer, Karen M. (Bob Schlosky) Klemmer, Susan (James) Fackelman, Paul (Mary Jo) Klemmer and John R. Preceded in death by his siblings Harold, Bernard, Audrey, Dominica and Albert. He cherished the company of the extended family of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
John served in WWII as a US Marine in the Pacific Theater. Within a few years of his return he met Gertrude “Trudy,” married, and raised their family in the Town of Gates. He worked for RG&E in the Steam Distribution Department until his retirement, where he had many memorable stories of friends and characters that had enlivened his 35+ years there. He was an active member of St Theodore’s RC Church and later attended St Helen RC Church, and a member of local VFW Post. He enjoyed a long and heathy retirement with Trudy, spending time with grandchildren, traveling, and visiting old friends and family.
Services and interment will be planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers please consider giving to the Wounded Warrior Project: www.woundedwarriorproject.org
