Passed away unexpectedly on September 13th 2024. He is predeceased by his father Marvin Seiger and his mother Barbara Seiger. Survived by his brother David Seiger and long-time friend Scott Spencer as well as many, many fans world-wide. He was a local jazz musician who was originally from NYC but moved to Rochester, NY after losing his hearing due to an accident and he made Rochester his home. Jon was one of the few performing deaf musicians and had the uncanny ability to sound exactly like Louis Armstrong. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music and learned to play Trumpet while also learning and studying under his mentor, the great trumpeter, Roy Eldridge. His bands locally included; Skeeter and the Three Notes, The Metropolitan Stompers and Jon Seiger & The Allstars. The band he played with most often, in NYC were The HiTops. He also performed with good friends Joe Murayni, Eddie Locke, The Drifters, The Shirelles, and Ella Fitzgerald.
Friends and Family are welcome to a Memorial Service on Saturday, November 9th at 2pm at Asbury First United Methodist Church, located at 1050 East Ave. Rochester, NY 14607. A tribute concert will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd from 5 - 9 PM at The Hampton Inn Downtown, located at 101 S Union St, Rochester, NY 14607.
