Loyd G. Thompson, Jr.

Loyd G. Thompson, Jr., 86, of Gates, NY, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2022, with his wife of 64 years by his side. Loyd grew up in Wellsville, NY.

Loyd graduated from the University of Rochester in 1957 in Economics. He served in the Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant JG for two years. Loyd worked in Human Resources for Bausch & Lomb, Case-Hoyt, and ART. He also owned a resume writing business and a small liquor store in North Chili, NY.

Loyd was predeceased by his parents, Loyd and Ruth Coffman Thompson, sister Betty, brother Donald, sister-in-law Mary Lou Thompson, and brother-in-law Charles Leech.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Hilda Stout Thompson, sister Doris Thompson Leech, son Gerald (Lorraine), daughter Diane Thompson-Will (Christopher), grandchildren, Karen Daniels (Aaron), Donald Thompson (Rochelle), Joseph Will, Lanah Phillips (Josh), six great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. 

Loyd is being cremated and will be interred at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellsville, NY, where a graveside service with family and friends will be held on September 17, 2022 at 11 AM. There will be no calling hours or service in Rochester per Loyd’s request.
