Margaret Therese “Margo” Fermer passed into the Light on May 20, 2026 in the company of a few dear friends. Margo was predeceased by her grandparents, Francis and Agnes Cullen, parents Authur C. Fermer and Grace Cullen Fermer, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Leo Schosger, and special friend Robert J. Grady. She is survived by her “family of friends”, Tracy and Bob Bill, Marsha and Mark Gildea, adopted Grandchildren Kelly (Brian), Bob (Kelly), Andrew, Paul (Megan), Adam (Jamie) and Great Grandchildren Lexi, Mason, Joey, Brooklyn, Logan and Quinn; close friends Laurie Marshall, Annemarie House, Joyce Daley, and many others from Catholic Family Center; dear friend Peter Wheaton; and her cousin Barbara Price (Don).
Special Thanks to the staff and friends at the Episcopal Church Home for their love and care.
Margo was born and grew up in Corning, NY where she graduated from St. Vincent de Paul’s Elementary School and Corning Northside High School. She was very active in her church. After living and working in Corning, Margo made her way to Rochester, NY where she lived the rest of her life impacting the lives of everyone she met.
In Rochester she was a long-time employee of 50 Chestnut Plaza and Catholic Family Center. Her contagious smile, huge heart, unique sense of humor, sass, and love for animals, naturally drew people to her. For those who knew Margo well, “spitfire” is a word most used to describe her. Margo will be remembered fondly for her Pendelton outfits and those fabulous RED Glasses “adjusted just right”, as well as her purse - the size of a small suitcase.
As an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills and NE Patriots football teams, she always enjoyed talking sports with the men.
All are welcome to join in Margo’s Celebration of Life Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 534 Oxford St. at 10 am on June 10th.
Burial will be in a private service at a future time in Corning, NY
St. Peter, when she meets you at the gates, a word of caution, don’t ask her age!
