Martin “Tito” Rivera Soto Obituary

In Loving Memory of Martin “Tito” Rivera Soto

January 16, 1950 – February 26, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Martin “Tito” Rivera Soto, age 75, on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, in Rochester, New York. Tito passed away peacefully surrounded by his family who will miss him dearly. Born on January 16th, 1950, to Martin Rivera and Maria Pilar Soto in Guayama, Puerto Rico, Tito was a beloved son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend whose kindness and strength left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Tito lived a full and accomplished life, serving in the US Army, as a police officer, truck driver, construction worker, and even working at Disney World. His creativity and tech savviness shined through his many passions, from playing chess and learning astronomy, to collecting Invicta watches, tools, and gadgets. He enjoyed riding his motorized bikes, dancing, listening to music, and always embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. Yet, above all, his most cherished role was being a loving father.

Tito was preceded in death by his former wife, and mother of his children, Anna Marie Phillips Monn; their son Alexie Rivera; mother of his children, Alida Monsanto; siblings Willie, Victor, Reinaldo, Milagros, Iris, Aurelia, Margarita and Pedro Rivera; and his parents. Despite the losses he endured, he remained a source of love and resilience for his family.

Tito is survived by his loving children, Vanessa Marie Rivera Patterson, Michelle Marie Rivera, Alex Rivera, Vanessa Michelle Rivera Monsanto, Leilanie Michelle Rivera Monsanto, Jennifer Lee Rivera Diaz, and Ashley Marie Rivera Diaz; his grandchildren Andrew Panagiotakis, Jr., Cora Cook, Margaret and Aylan Patterson, Trinity Rivera, Lenessa Valoisa Cabrera, Alannis Leilanie Torres, Julian Anthony Mika, Jalen Sofia Cruz and Ja’Dore Santos Morales; his great grandchildren McKenna Serkedakis and Landyn Cook; his former second wife and mother of his children Maritza Diaz; his sister Maria Magdalena Rivera; and his nieces and nephews, including Arnaldo Martinez Rivera who loved Tito as a father.

Tito’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family. He will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel at home in his presence.

Rest in peace, Tito. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
