Mildred Jordan Reynolds

Mildred Jordan Reynolds, fondly known as Millie, was born on July 31, 1930 in Newburgh, New York to Dr. Anthony Leopold Jordan and Ruth Green Jordan. She was the second of four children born to the Jordans. Millie had two sisters Katherine Isabel Jordan and Dr. Winifred Jordan Simmons and a brother, Dr. Herman Clifford Jordan.

Millie attended Madison High School in Rochester, New York where her family moved shortly after her birth. She is a graduate of Lincoln Academy, a private secondary school in Greensboro, North Carolina. She attended South Carolina State University.

Following the example of her parents, Millie was an active contributor to the Rochester community. She was proud of her two decades’ work at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, work that enabled her to contribute to the recruitment of a generation of physicians and to mentor some, including students underrepresented in medicine who remain grateful for her presence to this day.

Millie was an active supporter of Jordan Health (named posthumously for her father.) In her role as a long-term member of the Jordan Foundation board, Millie said “I am extremely proud of Jordan’s leadership and the way they have advanced the institution. I wish my father could have lived to see this.”

She was an active member of the Rochester Rotary Club, which she joined in 2007. She served on a number of Rotary Club Committees, including the Membership Committee, Law Day Committee (in support of the Rochester Police Department), Friendship Committee, and the Eastern Cities Fellowship Dinner Committee.

Rochester Police Department officers enjoyed Millie’s love and support. Her late cousin Kathryn Hawkins headed RPD’s former women’s division and her late husband Bill was an RPD sergeant. She was politically active, in particular, enjoying the candidacies and friendship of former Rochester Mayor and New York Lieutenant Governor Robert (“Bob”) Duffy.

Millie departed this earth on October 14, 2025. She was predeceased by her husband, Sgt. William (“Bill”) Reynolds and her sisters, Katherine Jordan, and Winifred Simmons. She is survived by her son, Richard Reynolds and her daughter, Meredith Eileen Arrington (Ashley Chung); by her brother Dr. Herman (Joyce) Jordan; her grandchildren: Ashley Mohan Chung, Cameron Jordan Chung, and Hana Rae Chung; by her beloved granddaughter, Aaris Mathis; and by many treasured nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.
