Randall Grimm Obituary

Randall Michael Grimm 69, of Rochester, NY passed unexpectedly away peacefully in his home April 13, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Randall S. (Phyllis Grupa) Grimm, and niece Ayla Pearl. He is survived by his right-hand-gal Joan Anderson; daughter Carrie (Natale) Pellegrino; sons Michael and Dennis; brothers Steven and Eric; "his favorite" sister Charmaine (Lee) Whitcome; grandchildren Aron, Giavanna and Rocco; half brothers Marc and Justin; nephews Orion, Ben, Jeremy and Mathew; nieces Jenna, Nicole and Michelle.

Randy graduated Silver Creek High School and grew up on Cassadaga Lakes, helping his father at the family's boat livery. He went on to learn Geology and Earth Sciences at SUNY Fredonia. Also in his formative years, he was heavily involved in competitive  Kung Fu (Si Fu/Kuntau/Poekoelan) and studied under  renowned senseis Willem Reeders and Willem Wetzel. He remains an Orange Sash (Black Belt) and was always proud to teach these valuable skills to others. Randy had a wanderlust which enabled him to have traveling adventures throughout his life and in his late teens even hitchhiked all the way to California!

Randy had lots of fun nicknames and was always the most electrified spark in the room. He excelled in offering magical good cheer and support to folks he befriended, and was loved in return by many! He was a free spirit who enjoyed all things artistic and musical. His attention focused mainly on the wonders of nature, spirituality, and social justice; inspiring others through his painting, songwriting, guitar work and flute playing. He performed in numerous bands, most notably Myrtle's New Scenario, Darby Switch, and The Treebirds.

Randy was very proud of his children and was comforted to know that they are  leading fulfilled happy lives. He has been amazed, over the years, by his daughter's strength and sense of duty as she takes on the role of Matriarch for future generations. He was awestruck by Michael's resiliency and ability to never give up; striving until he found his true calling in this world. Dennis continues to work in the construction trades and Randy hoped that he take the basics he taught him, and run all the way to a masterful career. His pride and vision for his grandchildren's future remained strong, and now he can watch over all of them from afar…as we honor his memory from here.

Randy brought so much joy to our world and we feel profoundly blessed to have had him in our lives. His fierce loyalty, gentle soul, silly wit, and dancing feet will remain etched in our memories, as we hold him lovingly in our hearts forever.

INVICTUS
Out of the night that covers me, Black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments my scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
