Richard T. Russer

On June 20, 2023 at the age of 81. “Tiger” “Ricardo” “Pops” “Guy” “Double R” was a son of the late John; Helen (Maher) Russer; brother to the late John Russer (Linda) and Laurie Hoh of Colorado.  Married for over 56 years to the love of his life, Margie (Wight); father to Michael (Lynette) and Murry (Michael) Hooper; “pseudo father” to Mark; Brad Kammholz, Clay; Ben Wight and many others that looked up to him throughout the years for guidance and mentorship; grandfather to Chloe; Brett Hooper, Leia (Seth) Gehrking; Derek (Cassidy) Fuoco; brother-in-law to the late Milly Goldstone, Mary Jane Pia, Murry Rouch, Marsha Mitelli, and Lisa Reagan; uncle to so many and cousin to over a hundred with special acknowledgement to “pseudo-sister” Jackie McNall. He was a friend to so many, with special acknowledgement to his best friends Jim Gross; Ed Loescher.

A New York Yankees fan and Green Bay Packers Shareholder he was also a Member of Heat & Frost Insulators Local 26 for over 35 years.

Is he the last of the rebels?  It’s been said that if a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. He decided to live to his own standards:  

*minimal needs and fewer wants. 

*Work hard to support a family but take time for yourself.

*Be a loyal friend and a mentor to young men.

*Use silence to oppose opposition.

*Learn the skills to avoid dependence on others.

*Never say anything you will regret.

*Measure twice, cut once.

*He was his own bank and had no use for phones.

*Would give you the shirt off his back if he wore one.

*Wouldn’t wear a tie because it would hang in his soup.

*Would figure out a way to fit a square peg into a round hole.

*Knew a little bit of everything in case it came up in conversation.

*Tough enough to tame a horse yet gentle enough to hold his grandchildren.

*Happy hour was when the Yanks came on.

*Early to bed, early to rise.

*Work out every day even Xmas.

He may pass on, but his legacy will live in all those who gathered around him.  He never complained about the raw deal he got in the end because he knew he was lucky enough to do everything he wanted.  Ricardo went down swinging!  He will be missed but his voice will be heard every day by those who were lucky enough to have known him. His wishes were to have no services and for everyone to enjoy their lives.
