On June 22, 2026 at age 97, Dick passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years Joyce Kern.
Dick is survived by his daughters Sheryl (Frank) Battaglia and Donna (Greg) Schott; son Doug (Jean) Kern; grandchildren Alecia (Todd) Reardon, Mike Battaglia, Phillip (Jaime) Schott; Christine (Dave) Traver; 7 great grandchildren; niece Judy Herrick; and his loving companion, Maureen Isaac.
Dick was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Sergeant in the US Army. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association. Dick was a 36 year salaried retiree from GM, a past member of Gates-Chili Fire Dept. and life member of Gates Exempts. Dick was quick-witted and humorous; the type of person who loved to make people laugh. He was a genuine, loving man who enjoyed life. He lived for his family and his faith, always putting his concern for others above his own needs.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Dick's life on Tuesday June 30, 2026 beginning at 12:30 PM at Ogden Presbyterian Church, 2400 S. Union Street, Spencerport, NY 14559. Interment will be private in Western NY National Cemetery.
