Obituary

Robert “Bob” Plum passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2022 at age 76 after a valiant year-long battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents, Russell and Gertrude Plum, sister Virginia "Ginny" Zavaglia, brother Lawrence "Larry" Plum, brother-in-law Patrick "Pat" Coyne, and great-nephew Mitchell Giardino.  He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen "Kathy" Plum, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends: especially goddaughter and niece Janice (Michael) Giardino; great nephews Kyle (Jackie) Durfee, Dominic Giardino, and great-great nephew Enzo Durfee; nephews Steven (Sue) and Michael Plum; niece Sheryl (Tim) Keegan and great-nephew Ryan Keegan; sister-in-law Jean (Sam McQueen) Coyne; nephews J.D. Coyne and Dan McQueen, and niece Katie (Richard) Sellwood; great nieces Haylie and Sydney Sellwood and great nephew Lucas Sellwood.

Bob was a retiree of Rochester Telephone, where he worked in drafting and engineering.  He played on the bowling, golf and softball teams and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He had a life-long interest in astronomy, history (civil war), and nature. He and his wife were members of the George Eastman Circle and the Wilson Society at the University of Rochester, and supported a variety of community organizations including the Memorial Art Gallery, Susan B. Anthony Nursing Friends, Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery, Genesee Country Village and Museum, and the Big Springs Museum in Caledonia, NY.  He was a past golfing member at several golf courses, including Brook-Lea Country Club where he and his wife were most recently social members. Bob served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was a former Fire Commissioner for the Mumford Fire District. He was a man of singular integrity, generosity, humor, and fairness.  He will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to make his acquaintance, and will live on in his wife and all those who cherish his memory.

A private interment will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery at the convenience of the family. All friends, caregivers, colleagues and acquaintances of Bob and Kathy and their relatives are encouraged to join the family in an informal celebration of Bob’s life at Brook-Lea Country Club on May 22, 2022, at a reception to be held between 1:00-3:30 pm.
