Merritt Island FL: On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and after 95 wonderful years of life, Shirley went to be with her Lord and Savior. Predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Harrington, during 67 years of marriage. She leaves behind seven children Diane Buell, Denise McNulty, Alane (Lary) Coia, Michele (Dave) Marini, Jim (Donna) Harrington, John (Barbara) Harrington and Ellyn (Ron) Brinsko. Her sisters Pamela Pugh, Maxine (Joseph) Bitzer and Lorraine Osborne. Shirley had 25 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren whom she cherished dearly.
Shirley spent 20 years as a volunteer working at the Cape Canaveral Hospital assisting with patient care and transportation. She also performed with the “Plucky Players”; a theatrical group associated with the Church of the Holy Ghost in Gates, NY for over 30 years. Shirley was an avid card player and enjoyed many nights playing table games with her family and friends. She enjoyed her summer months at their lake house in Perry, NY on Silver Lake and their winter home in Merritt Island, Florida.
Friends are invited to join her family to share their stories on Tuesday, May 21 at the James R. Gray Funeral Home, 1530 Buffalo Rd with visitation from 4 pm to 7 pm. On Wednesday, May 22 at 10:00 am, friends and family are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, 8 Park St. in the Village of Perry. Interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery will immediately follow the Mass.
