Steve passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2026, at age 79. He is predeceased by his wife Judith Ferguson and parents Calvin and Louise Ferguson.
He is survived by his sons, Jeffery (Tish) Ferguson and Justin (Lori) Ferguson; his “Main squeeze” Brenda Jordan; grandchildren Makayla, Brianna, and Liam Ferguson; and many friends.
Steve was originally from Wellsville, NY and graduated from Brockport College. He was hired as a teacher at Gates Chili Central School District after college. Before beginning his career, he was drafted and served in the US Army and in the Vietnam War from 1971-1974. Upon his return, he enjoyed a career in teaching for over 30 years in Gates-Chili.
He has been a member of Brook Lea Country Club since 1974, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf and many great friendships. He was also a member of Chili American Legion Post 1830 and Vietnam Veterans Association. Steve was an Honor Flight recipient and became a volunteer as well. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places and cuisines. Steve was a devoted family man. His children, grandchildren, and Brenda will all miss him dearly.
Family and Friends are welcome to call on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at James R. Gray Funeral Home, 1530 Buffalo Road. Interment will be private in Westside Memorial Gardens.
