Violette was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska in 1923. At the age of 21, she married Louis Throumoulos and 2 years later in 1946, theymoved to Rochester, NY.
Violette had an entrepreneurial spirit and worked tirelessly in the family business, the 19th Ward’s iconic Louie’s Sweet Shoppe for 40+ years, prior to retirement. Her longevity after retirement was often credited to her busy lifestyle and always-full calendar. If you wanted to have lunch with Violette, you had to get on her calendar. And if you did go to lunch with her, she always wore a fashionable hat.
Violette was known to love a party. She never said no to a party, but also never stayed long. She loved cooking for her family, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and always gave extra strong hugs, especially for such a tiny woman. We will never forget those hugs. She will be missed by all she touched over her 96 years.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled appropriately in the future.
